On the Job With Laborers Local 78

Kosiec "Stanley" Stanislaw is a Polish immigrant and a member of Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 78. Stanley works daily removing lead and asbestos from buildings throughout New York City. Because of the hazardous nature of his job, when he dresses for work, he must cover himself with a protective jumpsuit, boots, gloves, goggles, a breathing mask, and a helmet. Stanley lives with his wife in Queens, New York, and has been a member of LIUNA Local 78 since 1996. Photography by Sam Hollenshead.
