A Day of Tragedy

September 11, 2001, in New York CIty started out as a crystal clear and sunny day. But when the first hijacked plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center at 8:48 am, the morning turned from perfection to tragedy. The following photographs were taken by LRA staff photographer Sam Hollenshead on the morning of September 11 and in the days following the deadly terrorist attacks which claimed nearly 3,000 lives.
