Rebuilding

A year after the World Trade Center was destroyed during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, union construction workers remain at Ground Zero as the rebuilding efforts begin. Before new buildings can rise, essential infrastructure must be replaced. When the World Trade Center buildings were still standing, thousands of people would flow into the city from New Jersey through the PATH station located six stories below these two towers. The reconstruction of this station is crucial for the future of the city and redevelopment of the area hardest hit by the terrorist attacks. Photography by Sam Hollenshead.
